DTH goes JDM
The first legal valve exhaust system for the new Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ. With dynamic valve control and ECE approval valid throughout Europe and many parts of the rest of the world, we, as a manufacturer, have developed the first valve system based on your requests. The exhaust system is modular and can be individually adjusted and customized through separate end-pipe bends and tailpipes.

Many of you have asked how the valve control works on the GT86, GR86, and BRZ. Since we are building the first legal valve system for these JDM cars, we also had to completely develop a new control system. The noise limits of 79 dB for the GT86/BRZ and 75(!) dB for the GR86 are tough to meet and can only be achieved with significant effort. Often we hear "…a valve system that only opens above 80 km/h on the highway is not needed…" It’s clear that the legal regulations for exhaust systems with variable geometry are especially strict. The driving noise is usually measured in 4th gear, and additionally, an ASEP measurement in the 3rd + 4th gears is required, where the noise is distributed over 4 measurements per gear (from 20 to 80 km/h). This is why the valve is usually closed in this range.

However, we have thought further and developed a dynamic, gear-dependent control system that allows the valve to open fully in 2nd gear in Track mode, and only in 3rd and 4th gear does the valve close during the measurement cycle. This is what the TÜV (German Vehicle Inspection) checks as the worst-case scenario for noise emissions. Outside of this range in the 3rd and 4th gears, you can choose when the valve opens, either by double-tapping the ESP button or switching to Track Mode, to enhance the engine sound and make your track tool sound as it should after a track day.
